This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate across the entire stack to develop highly scalable distributed solutions that enhance user experiences and drive business growth.
• Maintain system reliability, performance, and operational excellence through testing, telemetry, and alerting mechanisms.
• Take ownership of projects from initial conception to production release.
• Influence, facilitate, and work collaboratively with various teams.
• Partner with Engineering Managers (EM), Product Managers (PM), and other stakeholders to establish team direction in alignment with engineering and business priorities.
• Address software defects, networking issues, and problems reported by customers.
• Enhance performance, scalability, and reliability of systems.
• Define project milestones based on broadly outlined business challenges.
• Identify and track metrics to monitor project progress.
• Engage with all layers of the stack in a dynamic agile engineering environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 12+ years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 8+ years; or a PhD with 5+ years of applicable experience.
• Over 3 years of professional coding experience utilizing web backend technologies such as Ruby on Rails or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Go, Ruby, or Python.
• Experience in safely deploying services to customers using feature flags, A/B testing, or comparable techniques.
• Proven expertise in making architectural and system design decisions.
• Ability to convey architectural trade-offs and mentor team members.
• Practical experience in the emulation and simulation of networking devices.
• Leadership experience in projects, including defining project milestones and tracking progress metrics.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced agile engineering environment.
• Willingness and capability to tackle open-ended challenges across all layers of the stack.
• Preferred: experience with networking devices.
• Preferred: familiarity with Cisco CML.
• Preferred: experience in systems software design or large-scale distributed networking solutions.
• Preferred: background in working with cross-functional or geographically distributed engineering teams.
