Staff Software Engineer, Finance Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture for the Finance Technology platform, which encompasses pay-ins, payouts, invoicing, and tax calculations.

• Establish well-defined, versioned APIs and contracts for Finance Technology services.

• Oversee multi-quarter initiatives from start to finish.

• Stay informed about the financial technology landscape and lead technical assessments.

• Act as a pioneer in Finance Technology's ongoing innovation and experimentation.

• Collaborate with senior technical leaders across ezCater to ensure alignment on common patterns and standards.

• Guide through collaborative design processes.

• Work in partnership with Platform Engineering on shared service patterns.

• Serve as a technical multiplier through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship.

• Participate in an on-call rotation and lead the team in triaging and investigating issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of professional development experience, focusing on backend technologies and service development using Go, Ruby on Rails, Java, or similar languages.

• Proven track record as the technical lead on multi-quarter, multi-team projects.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and scaling payment-processing and payout systems.

• Practical experience with modern payment service providers and gateways integration.

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration technologies, such as Temporal.

• A commitment to quality: adept in security best practices, automated testing, clean code, code reviews, and CI/CD principles.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills regarding collaborative system design and technical decision-making.

• Hands-on experience with feature flags, telemetry, and safe rollout methodologies.

• Experience in triaging and investigating production issues that impact custom functionalities.

• History of collaboration with Product and Design teams.

• Willingness to both give and receive feedback in a collaborative learning atmosphere.

• Availability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for Together Weeks, team meetings, and other events.
