This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and architect modules and feature areas for Wholesale Electricity Market Management (MMS) applications.
• Facilitate technical design discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and design reviews.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering, project, and customer teams to deliver solutions.
• Define project scope, estimate effort, and work alongside the Project Manager to establish timelines.
• Assess technology options and make informed decisions based on thorough analysis, risk evaluation, and technical fit.
• Ensure that technical solutions are scalable, maintainable, and consistent with product solution architecture and standards.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the overall MMS solution and module interactions, serving as a subject matter expert in designated areas.
• Design interfaces and facilitate information exchange between modules and systems.
• Take ownership of code quality, performance, and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership in an Agile environment and guide a team of 5–7 developers as necessary.
• Advocate for standardization, reuse, and minimal customization of product capabilities.
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to define requirements, manage changes, and ensure successful delivery.
• Mentor team members and assist with complex customer implementations.
• Document technical solutions, troubleshoot issues, and support the resolution of defects and production concerns.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
• 8 years of professional experience in Market Management Systems (MMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), or a technical lead role within the electric utility industry.
• 6 years of experience working with or for an Independent System Operator (ISO), market participant, or wholesale electricity market vendor.
• Strong understanding of Market Management Systems, including Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch.
• Proven experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues in Market Management System applications.
• Knowledge of power system applications and/or optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS; experience with PostgreSQL is advantageous.
• Experience in deploying applications in on-premises and/or cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including GitOps, CI/CD, and source control management.
• Proficient with tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Exposure to Kafka, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Prometheus, and Jaeger is advantageous.
• Understanding of Java programming concepts, Spring Boot, modern web clients like TypeScript or JavaScript, and RESTful APIs is a plus.
