This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of insurance verifications, eligibility checks, and prior authorizations for services requiring referrals, including surgical procedures, consultations, and diagnostic tests.

• Ensure that patient demographic information, insurance details, verification, and eligibility are accurately established and documented.

• Confirm pre-certifications and secure upgrades if necessary.

• Inform the referring physician's office and reach out to the patient if pre-certification is not acquired by the next day.

• Accountable for obtaining financial clearance and/or addressing any prior balances patients may have.

• Check patient insurance eligibility and acquire essential pre-authorization numbers, if required, before the appointment date.

• Manage the communication and collection of any fees owed by the patient.

• Document and liaise with clinical staff, physicians, administrators, and patients regarding insurance issues or discrepancies; contact patients to gather updated insurance information or rectify problems.

• Scan documentation into the EMR system as necessary.

• Input and/or retrieve authorizations/pre-certifications through online systems.

• Draft and prepare written correspondence as needed based on functional requirements.

• Participate in workshops, seminars, and/or conferences to stay informed about standards and best practices in the field.

• Share information with colleagues and/or staff as appropriate.

• Carry out other related duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Approximately 2 years of relevant experience in a customer service-oriented role.

• Familiarity with CPT, ICD9, and ICD10 coding.

• Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written).

• Professional demeanor, punctuality, and a strong sense of urgency.

• Ability to plan and prioritize tasks while adapting to rapidly changing priorities.

• Detail-oriented.
