Staff Software Engineer, Data Warehouse

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and develop the next-generation big data computing platform for data ETL, analytics, and machine learning at Airbnb.

• Manage, operate, and enhance the platform's reliability, performance, observability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Write maintainable, self-documenting code and conduct code reviews.

• Contribute to and work on open-source software that has a significant impact on the industry.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

• Over 10 years of experience in data infrastructure, particularly focused on big data technologies.

• Expertise in big data technologies such as Spark, Presto/Trino, and Kubernetes.

• Strong programming capabilities in Java or Scala.

• Significant experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.

• Proven proficiency in multithreading and concurrent programming.

• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database systems.

• Ability to collaborate with various teams to define system requirements, identify solutions, and test and integrate systems.

• Skill in troubleshooting and resolving complex data infrastructure issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to work effectively within a team environment.

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. is registered as an entity.
