Staff Software Engineer, Core Reliability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement reliability initiatives and features that enhance the resilience of our service environment in collaboration with reliability teams.

• Collaborate closely with essential T0/T1 services to gain insights into architecture, enhance scalability and reliability, and minimize operational overhead.

• Create and improve systems that securely handle service configurations and secrets at scale.

• Advance canary-based release systems to ensure safer deployments and decrease incidents.

• Broaden deployment capabilities to accommodate thousands of services and hundreds of daily deployments.

• Collaborate with various teams to advocate for reliability best practices and reinforce the reliability culture within Coinbase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services within service-oriented architectures.

• Exceptional system design and coding abilities, demonstrated by a history of producing high-quality, well-tested code.

• Strong skills in observability, debugging, and performance optimization.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to clearly articulate technical concepts.

• Sound decision-making under pressure and a readiness to debug and enhance any layer of the stack.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and address issues outside of standard business hours.

• Experience in building reliable, high-throughput, low-latency systems.

• Familiarity with observability tools such as Kibana and Datadog.

• Experience in fast-paced, rapidly growing environments.

• Proficiency in Ruby, Go, Terraform, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
