DevOps Engineer – Deployment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete release and deployment lifecycle: build → package → deploy → verify → rollback

• Create and maintain Octopus Deploy projects, including lifecycles, channels, variables, and deployment processes

• Implement automation for deployments utilizing Ansible (playbooks/roles, inventories, idempotent changes)

• Manage Git-based release workflows in GitHub (branching, tagging, versioning, release notes)

• Develop and sustain CI pipelines in GitHub Actions (or existing tools) to generate artifacts and trigger Octopus releases

• Standardize deployment patterns among applications (templates, shared steps, reusable Ansible roles)

• Control environment configurations and secrets systematically (variable sets, permissions, auditing)

• Enhance deployment safety through approvals, health checks, smoke tests, automated validation, and rollback strategies

• Provide support for production releases, troubleshoot deployment failures, and conduct root-cause analysis

• Maintain release documentation, runbooks, and change management procedures

• Collaborate with developers, QA, and operations to schedule releases and minimize downtime

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a DevOps / Release / Deployment Engineer supporting production deployments

• Strong practical experience with Octopus Deploy (process design, variables, multi-environment releases)

• Proficient in Ansible for deployment and configuration (roles, vault/secrets, troubleshooting)

• Solid working knowledge of GitHub (PR workflows, tagging/releases, permissions)

• Understanding of CI/CD principles (artifact management, versioning, promotion between environments)

• Skills in administration and troubleshooting on Windows and/or Linux hosts utilized for deployments

• Capability to diagnose deployment issues across application, OS, network, and configuration layers
