
Staff Software Engineer – Build Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the architecture and long-term technical vision for RapidFort's Build Platform.
• Design and manage highly scalable distributed build systems capable of generating and maintaining thousands of production-ready container images.
• Create automated solutions for image generation, validation, signing, publishing, and lifecycle management.
• Enhance build performance, scalability, reproducibility, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Develop automation that removes manual engineering tasks while boosting developer productivity.
• Build internal tools and platform services using Python, Bash, and contemporary cloud-native technologies.
• Tackle complex challenges related to Linux, dependency management, networking, containerization, and build systems.
• Promote engineering standards focused on software supply chain integrity, reproducible builds, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate closely with Platform Engineering, Security Research, Product Engineering, and Infrastructure teams.
• Lead architecture reviews and guide technical decisions across various engineering organizations.
• Mentor senior engineers and help elevate the technical standards throughout the company.
• Continuously seek opportunities to streamline systems, enhance reliability, and minimize operational overhead.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or developer platform roles.
• Proven track record in architecting and managing large-scale build platforms or distributed infrastructures.
• U.S. Citizenship is required in accordance with applicable federal customer requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux systems and operating system internals.
• Advanced understanding of Docker, OCI container images, and container ecosystems.
• Proficient in Python development.
• Strong skills in Bash scripting.
• Experience in designing distributed automation systems and developer platforms.
• Solid experience with Kubernetes in production settings.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Buildkite, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Strong grasp of software build systems, dependency management, package management, and artifact lifecycle.
• Experience in troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems in production environments.
• Strong familiarity with Git-based development workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with a capacity to influence engineering across multiple teams.
