Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Develop high-quality code while being a collaborative team member ready to share your knowledge and expertise with others.

• Continuously iterate and enhance client-facing web pages and workflows that guide users toward the appropriate company-related products to fulfill their needs.

• Execute data integrations during the decision-making process to enhance the customer experience.

• Participate in the design and development of new applications, features, and workflows to create a more intuitive and user-friendly customer experience.

• Assist in ongoing initiatives to optimize the client's complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), adhering to best practices.

• Work across the entire technology stack utilizing React.js, TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, SQL, REST API, Context API, and more.

• Facilitate the adoption and migration to Next.js to enhance speed and responsiveness.

• Take ownership of various projects while supporting senior engineers on other initiatives.

• Collaborate with the team to elevate skills through mentorship, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pair programming for complex development tasks as required.

• Participate in and contribute to architecture and design meetings and discussions.

• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to plan the roadmap, transform product requirements into user stories, assist in planning and refinement meetings, and uphold high standards of engineering excellence across the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken, with at least a B2 level (90% proficiency) and exceptional communication skills.

• 8-10 years of overall development experience in a professional software engineering role.

• 1-2 years of experience in a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or Staff Engineer position.

• Proficient in React, advanced TypeScript, Next.js (preferably version 13), and Node.js.

• Capable of mentoring other engineers in TypeScript while sharing knowledge and best practices.

• Experience with Observability:

• Strong understanding of observability tools such as DataDog or similar.

• Experience with setting up dashboards, monitors, error reporting, etc.

• Experience with Web Performance:

• Knowledge of core web vitals, caching, critical rendering path, and static generation.

• Experience working on large-scale production applications.

• Ability to translate business requests into manageable steps to achieve objectives.
