Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of significant systems and initiatives that involve multiple teams.

• Develop and test system components.

• Facilitate code and design reviews, presenting substantial designs for technical committee assessment.

• Take ownership of code quality, system testing, functional testing, and integration for developed systems and interfaces.

• Distill complex ambiguous issues using creativity and sound judgment.

• Work in tandem with UX and product teams to create customer-centric solutions.

• Act as a recognized technical expert and provide guidance on challenging trade-off decisions among groups.

• Contribute to the shaping of company technical objectives and establish formal networks across groups to ensure alignment of direction.

• Operate independently on new and unique assignments.

• Mentor engineers and guide the work of others.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience in software development focusing on building and maintaining scalable, customer-facing software systems.

• Proven experience in technical leadership, including architecture design, navigating complex trade-offs, and influencing engineering decisions across teams.

• Demonstrated ability in designing and developing reliable, scalable distributed systems, encompassing web services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

• Capacity to navigate ambiguity, simplify intricate problems, and deliver high-quality solutions in dynamic environments.

• Familiarity with integrating third-party platforms and SaaS products through APIs, events, and webhooks.

• Experience with ecommerce or marketplace systems, including catalog management, checkout, payments, or order management, is advantageous.

• Background in designing high-performance customer experiences, particularly in frontend performance optimization, is a plus.

• Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
