Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Address complex challenges within the value stream using software solutions and provide instances of innovative technologies or methodologies.

• Play a vital role in enhancing processes throughout the value stream while facilitating software releases and validations.

• Provide coaching and support during high-severity software incidents, ensuring resolution and conducting blameless post-mortems.

• Create code modules and patterns that are beneficial across the value stream, incorporating configurable and AI-driven functionalities for business self-service.

• Assess emerging technologies and methodologies, including AI tools and workflows, for enterprise application.

• Lead code and design reviews, assisting in the establishment of standards and challenging existing practices.

• Effectively communicate software-related information across all organizational tiers, adjusting content to suit the audience.

• Mentor team members and promote the adoption of AI throughout the value stream.

• Collaborate with leadership to enhance workflow by identifying and mitigating technical debt and process challenges.

• Maintain production systems and ensure service reliability through participation in an on-call rotation when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in resolving high-level challenges through creative software solutions.

• Proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and platforms relevant to the value stream, such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Angular, or AWS.

• Ideally possess expertise in C# and/or AWS.

• Experience in developing software modules or patterns utilized by multiple teams.

• Background in refining software integration and delivery methodologies to enhance ongoing support.

• Capability to assist in the development of work items from business requirements, including refining specifications and supporting software design.

• Proven ability to mentor and cultivate talent within the team.

• Experience in providing thought leadership to shape software development practices across internal teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 9 years of experience in a professional software engineering or analogous role is preferred.

• Expertise in developing for cloud environments or holding advanced cloud provider certifications, preferably AWS, is desirable.

• Experience in designing or refining agent-driven software delivery methodologies is a plus.

• Familiarity with building self-service configuration tools or pricing/eligibility systems, ideally in the mortgage or financial services sector, is preferred.

• Practical experience in utilizing AI to transform legacy problem areas and accelerate software delivery is advantageous.

• Participation in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends, may be required as applicable.
