Staff Software Engineer, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and develop agentic LLM pipelines that drive AI functionalities throughout the product.

• Create full-stack product features: Python/FastAPI web applications and TypeScript/React web tools.

• Engage in prompt engineering, refining LLM prompts and models, while assessing and suggesting enhancements based on accuracy, latency, and cost.

• Enhance our evaluation framework by curating datasets, conducting evaluations, running experiments, and identifying regressions, enabling us to implement changes with assurance.

• Advance production observability through accurate signals and feedback mechanisms.

• Contribute to the overall architecture and technical strategy.

• Collaborate closely with other product teams to comprehend their AI use cases and determine how to effectively enable and support them.

• Provide guidance on when to implement an AI/LLM solution and when it may not be appropriate, advocating for AI in contexts that enhance speed and ROI while redirecting efforts when it does not.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Experience in a startup, incubator, or similar dynamic 0-to-1 setting where you own features end-to-end and establish your own course.

• Proficient full-stack web application development experience in Python.

• Proven track record of deploying reliable agentic LLM workflows in production, utilizing any orchestration framework (such as LangGraph, LangChain, etc.).

• Experience in evaluating and testing LLM workflows, including evaluation harnesses, golden datasets, regressions, and observability techniques.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering and the iterative process of prompt development.

• Proficient with AI-driven coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to enhance efficiency.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of fostering alignment proactively.

• Must be a resident of the U.S.
