Staff Software Engineer, AI Systems

📋 Description

• Design and develop workflows and orchestration systems for AI-driven product features.

• Create backend services that merge LLMs with structured insurance data and platform APIs.

• Establish infrastructure for tooling, context management, and agent execution.

• Contribute to internal frameworks that facilitate prompt iteration, evaluation, and observability.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to convert underwriting workflows into AI-enhanced product experiences.

• Assist in defining architectural patterns for the development of reliable AI-native features in production.

• Work across backend systems, data infrastructure, and product integrations to deliver user-facing capabilities.

• Construct core infrastructure that supports Federato’s platform and influence how AI systems engage with underwriting workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend engineering, data engineering, or related fields.

• Extensive experience in building production backend systems and APIs.

• Professional background in working with LLMs, agent systems, or generative AI applications.

• Practical experience in prompt design, tool-based agent architectures, or LLM workflows.

• Proficiency in Python or similar backend programming languages.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.

• Ability to work across various layers of the stack, from infrastructure to product integration.

• Strong interest in emerging AI architectures and agent patterns.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Experience in building production systems that involve LLMs, agents, or prompt pipelines.

• Experience in designing internal platforms or developer tooling.

• Familiarity with the insurance, fintech, or B2B SaaS sectors.

• Contributions to open-source AI or data infrastructure initiatives.

• Experience with Typescript.
