Staff Software Engineer – Agent Harnessing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the agent harness, encompassing the agent loop, tools, prompts, execution environment, and capabilities utilized throughout Scout AI's agentic stack.

• Integrate full-stack software with physical hardware systems and AI agents.

• Ensure reliable, low-latency communication across intricate pipelines.

• Develop simulation environments and video game-like frameworks for testing and training agents prior to physical deployment.

• Manage connectors between AI models and real-world systems, converting model output into tangible actions.

• Fine-tune leading-edge AI models.

• Construct data acquisition pipelines that supply the training infrastructure for agents.

• Collaborate directly with warfighters to transform capability requests into production-ready agentic systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of full-stack engineering experience, preferably in a startup or high-ownership environment.

• Proven experience in developing complex agentic products or infrastructure, including agent loops, orchestration systems, and tool-use frameworks.

• Strong viewpoints on model and agent behavior.

• Practical experience in integrating software with physical hardware or low-level systems.

• Familiarity with simulation environments, game engines (Unreal, Unity, Isaac Sim), or robotics middleware (ROS/ROS2).

• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including architecture, distributed systems, and real-time pipelines.

• Must be a U.S. Person due to necessary access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.

• A genuine passion for the defense of the United States and its allies.

• May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
