Staff Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with our Director of Engineering and Staff Engineer to define the technical vision.

• Lead the advancement of frontend architecture, including components and rendering strategies.

• Convert product and design visions into sophisticated, maintainable user interfaces.

• Streamline intricate workflows to enhance usability, responsiveness, and overall performance.

• Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams during solution development.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and elevate the standards for frontend and UX excellence.

• Enjoy actual breaks and vacations—no after-hours or weekend work, except for rare unforeseen app issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in developing high-quality user interfaces, with recent hands-on coding involvement.

• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser behavior.

• Comfortable working directly with Rails views, helpers, and partials.

• Experience with or a strong interest in Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus.

• Preference for straightforward, maintainable systems over unnecessary complexity.

• Strong instincts in product design and interaction design.

• Proven experience in simplifying complex workflows.

• Capable of working effectively amidst ambiguity.

• Experience in shaping engineering patterns and conventions.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Serve as a primary resource for intricate or unclear frontend and UX challenges.

• Ability to think at both the systems (architecture and business) level while remaining adept at detailed problem-solving.

• Most successful candidates typically have over 10 years of software development experience across various complex projects, though a strict years-of-experience requirement is not enforced.
