Staff, Senior Software Engineer – Streaming, Kafka

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Implement, test, and deliver innovative features and enhancements within the Cloudera Streaming product area.

• Take ownership of features and provide technical guidance for aligned delivery.

• Develop containers, operators, and jobs on Kubernetes to integrate distributed data platform solutions into Cloudera’s containerized product suite.

• Engage throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure the creation of high-quality, secure, and maintainable software.

• Master the delivery pipeline to enable frequent and dependable delivery utilizing AI and modern engineering tools.

• Collaborate effectively with product management, support, UX, and documentation teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Offer support to field teams and customers to facilitate product adoption, implementation, and troubleshooting.

• Serve as a technical leader, mentor junior team members, and enhance team processes.

• Deliver production code, integrate components, and provide customer APIs for data-intensive applications.

• Contribute upstream to open-source projects and enhance security, performance, and portability across environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Apache Kafka.

• Project experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Operators, and CRDs.

• Profound expertise in Java along with familiarity with Spring, Quarkus, Hibernate, Maven, and Gradle.

• Solid understanding of software design and architectural principles.

• Ability to produce clean, maintainable, and high-quality software.

• Experience with delivery pipeline tools, CI/CD solutions, automated testing, and agentic development.

• Proven track record in managing complex software development projects, providing technical leadership, and collaborating across teams.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, and/or 6+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.

• Familiarity with Apache Flink, Iceberg, NiFi, or Spark is beneficial.

• Expertise in Scala, Python, or Go is advantageous.

• Experience with React, HTML, and CSS is favorable.

• Familiarity with agentic frameworks and tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot is a plus.
