This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of and enhance a key area of Trellis: Tokens and Visual Language, Components, or Patterns.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, content design, research, and design technology to establish scalable and accessible system guidance.
• Make informed system decisions that balance consistency, flexibility, accessibility, technical limitations, product requirements, and customer experience.
• Minimize product fragmentation by creating reliable shared foundations.
• Enhance coherence between Figma, documentation, and front-end implementation.
• Develop documentation and usage guidelines for designers, engineers, and AI-assisted tools.
• Work alongside product teams to identify adoption challenges, edge cases, implementation gaps, and emerging requirements.
• Contribute to governance and contribution frameworks.
• Promote accessibility, internationalization, responsive design, and high implementation standards.
• Collaborate with design technologists and engineers on component APIs, design tokens, implementation fidelity, acceptance criteria, and system tools.
• Uphold a high quality standard and foster trust throughout the organization.
• Enhance Trellis's machine readability to facilitate AI coding tools, MCP integrations, and generative UI workflows.
• Significant experience with enterprise design systems or intricate multi-product platforms.
• Background encompassing governance, adoption, documentation, accessibility, contribution models, and cross-team collaboration.
• Strong proficiency in one or more areas such as tokens and visual language, reusable components, product patterns, accessibility, documentation, governance, adoption, or Figma-to-code alignment.
• Extensive experience in enterprise SaaS, CRM, developer tools, commerce, data-intensive products, AI-assisted workflows, or other complex product settings.
• Expertise in designing reusable components that consider anatomy, states, variants, behaviors, accessibility, responsive rules, and implementation limitations.
• Proven experience in managing visual foundations at scale, including tokens, theming, color, typography, iconography, and motion.
• Strong partnership with engineering on component APIs, tokens, documentation, implementation fidelity, and front-end architecture.
• A track record of enhancing adoption, contribution models, governance, migration, and team empowerment.
• Ability to operate at a staff level with autonomy in identifying challenges, setting direction, influencing stakeholders, and resolving issues without close supervision.
• Strong product craft that balances consistency, flexibility, usability, accessibility, and practical implementation.
• Curiosity and diligence in advancing design systems for AI-assisted product development.
• A portfolio showcasing system-level projects.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating system decisions to designers, engineers, product leaders, and non-specialist stakeholders.
• Eligibility for an equity plan, including restricted stock units (RSUs), for qualifying positions.
