Staff Product Designer, DeFi

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the design vision, principles, and priorities in collaboration with product, engineering, and business leaders.

• Take ownership of the complete user experience for DeepBook's spot, margin, prediction products, liquidity workflows, and associated first-party applications.

• Lead essential user journeys such as onboarding, funding, market discovery, order entry, transaction review and signing, portfolio and position management, collateral management, liquidation risk assessment, settlement, and recovery from failed states.

• Create user experiences tailored for retail traders, seasoned DeFi users, market makers, liquidity providers, institutions, and developers.

• Identify problems, generate concepts, prototype, test, and evaluate the quality of implementations.

• Develop a scalable design system and shared interaction patterns for complex financial data, charts, tables, order entry, account statuses, alerts, and risk communication.

• Initiate a research program utilizing interviews, usability studies, product analytics, support feedback, and market observations.

• Collaborate with engineering teams regarding protocol behavior, transaction states, latency, data dependencies, security boundaries, and platform limitations.

• Work with legal, security, marketing, business development, and ecosystem teams to responsibly launch products and accurately communicate financial concepts.

• Define design and product quality metrics linked to activation, conversion, trading success, retention, support demands, and user trust.

• Build and nurture a design team to cover an expanding product surface.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in product design.

• Significant experience in leading, hiring, and developing designers within a fast-paced product organization.

• A portfolio showcasing exceptional personal craftsmanship and leadership impact across intricate, data-rich products.

• Experience in designing for trading, investing, fintech, payments, cryptocurrency, marketplaces, or other high-stakes products.

• Proficiency in DeFi with direct experience in utilizing on-chain products.

• Capability to discuss topics such as swaps, order books, liquidity, routing, slippage, collateral, leverage, liquidation, settlement, smart contract risk, and transaction signing.

• Strong product judgment with experience in shaping strategy, prioritization, and product decisions alongside product and engineering teams.

• Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, visual design, prototyping, research, and systems thinking.

• Experience in building design systems and operational practices across various products.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to changing product, technical, market, and legal requirements.
