This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define the long-term design strategy for Dispel's product platform in collaboration with Product and Engineering leadership.
• Oversee the design system at an architectural level, focusing on token structures, component governance, theming, and scalability principles.
• Set quality standards, review checkpoints, acceptance criteria, design principles, interaction patterns, and documentation guidelines.
• Lead platform-wide design projects such as design system implementation, accessibility adherence, and information architecture from concept to execution.
• Assess and integrate tools, AI workflows, and automation to enhance the productivity of the design team.
• Direct design efforts for complex, high-stakes projects that involve multiple teams and platforms.
• Convert technical limitations related to networking, identity, secure access, and multi-tenancy into user-friendly experiences.
• Manage end-to-end design for essential admin, operator, and end-user workflows.
• Facilitate design coordination across teams and contribute to roadmap planning, OKR formulation, and investment choices.
• Work alongside Brand & Web Design to ensure alignment between product and marketing interfaces.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to senior and mid-level designers.
• Enhance design critique, documentation standards, hiring criteria, and interview methodologies.
• Affect executive decisions through storytelling, prototypes, and data-driven insights.
• Advocate for accessibility and inclusive design practices.
• Represent the design function in cross-functional leadership discussions.
• 10+ years of experience in product design for web and native applications.
• Minimum of 3 years in a senior or staff-level role.
• Portfolio showcasing systems-level thinking, intricate problem-solving, and design leadership across various product surfaces.
• Extensive expertise in building, governing, and scaling design systems utilized by multiple teams.
• Proficient with AI-assisted design tools and workflows as a routine practice.
• Capability to shape product and engineering directions through strategic design and supporting evidence.
• Excellent facilitation, mentorship, and communication skills in a remote-first setting.
• Skilled in Figma and prototyping tools.
• Familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React component architecture.
• Experience in designing for environments requiring high security, reliability, or compliance.
• Ability to directly contribute to production code, preferably in React.
• Background in infrastructure platforms, enterprise admin consoles, or multi-tenant architectures.
• Experience modernizing legacy products through systematic design improvements.
• Knowledge in establishing accessibility programs, such as WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
• Interest in motion design, data visualization, or complex workflow design.
• Experience in building or operationalizing AI-assisted design pipelines for a team.
• Salary range of $150,000-160,000.
