Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Spearhead impactful infrastructure and developer productivity projects, starting with Continuous Delivery.

• Provide technical direction throughout Moxie and take ownership of significant architectural decisions.

• Manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD processes, developer environments, observability, and operational tools.

• Collaborate with engineers across Moxie to enhance software building, testing, deployment, and operations.

• Advance the developer platform to better support engineers and increasingly autonomous AI agents.

• Focus on automation, self-service tools, and minimizing friction in the software development lifecycle.

• Share accountability for production reliability and operational support with the distributed Platform team.

• Contribute to production infrastructure and developer tooling within the first month.

• Implement enhancements to CI reliability, merge workflows, deployment automation, or local development environments by the second month.

• Lead a workstream within the Continuous Delivery initiative from design through architecture review, cross-functional collaboration, and production deployment.

• Initiate a second platform project, such as progressive delivery or enhancements to the developer environment, by the sixth month.

• Lead technical proposals and shape architectural choices across teams.

• Promote automation, self-service environments, and infrastructure supporting autonomous AI engineering workflows.

• Oversee organization-wide technical initiatives related to infrastructure standards, architecture governance, technical documentation, or engineering-wide reliability practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Staff-level engineering experience managing large, ambiguous projects as a proactive individual contributor.

• Proven experience in owning delivery, trade-offs, and significant architectural choices across teams.

• Demonstrated ability to enhance engineering practices and influence peer teams.

• Experience collaborating with engineering leadership on intricate decisions and elevating technical standards.

• Proficient in designing, constructing, and maintaining production systems on AWS, including ECS/Fargate, RDS, or similar technologies.

• Familiarity with containers and infrastructure as code using Terraform/Terragrunt.

• Strong decision-making skills regarding scalability, reliability, and security.

• Expertise in Continuous Delivery, covering CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, and deployment processes.

• Experience in developing self-service tools, developer environments, and scalable abstractions.

• Proven skills in designing reliable and observable production systems utilizing Datadog or equivalent tools.

• Strong monitoring and alerting capabilities.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex production failures and drive sustainable improvements.

• Hands-on approach; readiness to implement fixes rather than merely advising from a distance or managing a ticket queue.

• Availability for on-call duties and incident response during Americas hours.

• Must reside in Chile, Brazil, Colombia, or the Dominican Republic.
