Staff Machine Learning Scientist, Translational AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Offer technical guidance at the convergence of deep learning, computational biology, and molecular diagnostics.

• Lead the design and validation of genomic, transcriptomic, and multimodal sequence models.

• Develop alignment and post-training workflows utilizing clinical trial and molecular diagnostic data.

• Spearhead parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) and the assessment of deep sequence and multimodal models.

• Confirm model outputs against benchmarks and real-world results.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to convert clinical needs into machine learning problem statements.

• Serve as a technical liaison between AI Research and ML Engineering teams.

• Write technical papers for peer-reviewed publications and showcase the company's expertise at conferences.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a highly quantitative field.

• Over 5 years of industry or post-doctoral experience implementing deep learning frameworks on complex biological, genomic, or clinical datasets, particularly with a focus on oncology or immunology.

• Strong technical knowledge in transformer architectures, representation learning, self-supervised learning (SSL), or deep sequence modeling.

• Proven experience in translating machine learning results into measurable biological variables or clinical performance metrics.

• Advanced proficiency in PyTorch and contemporary machine learning infrastructure (e.g., HuggingFace ecosystem, PEFT, Captum, MLflow, and distributed GPU computing setups).

• Documented experience in technical leadership through comprehensive project ownership or direction of cross-functional teams.
