• Take ownership of the architecture and technical roadmap for customer access and usage of the Trading API, encompassing identity, authentication, authorization, permissions, account models, partner OAuth, and customer-oriented trading and account-management applications.
• Develop access models for intricate account structures, which include multiple users, sub-accounts, entity and advisor accounts, along with delegated API and agent access.
• Oversee the technical delivery of Trading API customer applications, featuring real-time market data, order entry, and views for positions and orders.
• Lead the transition from outdated monolith endpoints to a specialized application backend with well-defined API contracts.
• Define security benchmarks for customer-facing systems, covering session and credential management, MFA, passkeys, OAuth flows, rate limiting, input validation, and responses to security findings.
• Implement safe delivery standards through feature flags, staged rollouts, preview environments, testing strategies, and production observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Compliance, Security, Brokerage Operations, and engineering teams.
• Conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and elevate engineering standards.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for production issues and promote sustainable incident prevention.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with considerable time spent on both backend services and customer-facing applications. Demonstrated scope and ownership are prioritized over a strict year count.
• Proven track record of owning a production system where defects could jeopardize customer data, grant incorrect access, or lead to financial loss.
• Extensive experience with authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, session and token management, MFA, and role- or attribute-based permission models.
• Strong backend proficiency in Go, or substantial experience in Java, Kotlin, C#, or Rust with a clear willingness to primarily work in Go.
• Robust frontend expertise with TypeScript and React, particularly in complex, state-heavy applications.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL), API design (REST and gRPC), and service-oriented architectures operating on Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated commitment to correctness and security through threat modeling, testing strategies, edge-case analysis, and safe production rollouts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, product managers, and compliance and security partners, especially when requirements are unclear or still under development.
• Proven history of technical leadership and mentorship across teams.
• Product-focused mindset and effectiveness as a collaborative teammate.
• Experience with real-time data using WebSockets or other streaming protocols is highly preferred.
