Staff Fiber Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Engineering and design of routing — Strategically plan terrestrial fiber routes connecting Anternet PoPs and data centers.

• Fiber procurement — Identify and evaluate dark fiber, IRU, and wavelength alternatives from carriers and infrastructure providers.

• Vendor and delivery oversight — Manage the entire process from purchase order to final acceptance.

• Acceptance and characterization — Establish and enforce criteria for fiber acceptance.

• Capacity and lifecycle oversight — Keep an accurate and updated fiber inventory as the source of truth.

• Operations collaboration — Work alongside NOC and field operations on fiber cuts, locates, and repairs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in OSP/fiber planning or network delivery within a carrier, hyperscaler, dark-fiber provider, or large enterprise backbone.

• Demonstrated track record of managing long-haul or metro dark-fiber routes from design stage to acceptance.

• Strong understanding of the vendor landscape.

• Proficient in GIS/KMZ tools for routing design.

• Adequate knowledge of optical transport systems.

• Capability to act as the sole accountable owner for physical deliveries across multiple concurrent projects.
