Staff Fiber Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Engineering and design of routes — Strategize terrestrial fiber pathways between Anternet PoPs and data centers.

• Fiber procurement — Identify and assess dark fiber, IRU, and wavelength alternatives from carriers and infrastructure providers.

• Management of vendors and delivery — Oversee the entire build process from purchase order to acceptance.

• Acceptance and characterization — Establish and enforce criteria for fiber acceptance.

• Capacity and lifecycle oversight — Maintain accurate records of the fiber inventory.

• Operations — Collaborate with NOC and field operations regarding fiber cuts, locates, and repairs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in outside plant (OSP) or fiber planning, or network delivery within a carrier, hyperscaler, dark-fiber provider, or large enterprise backbone.

• Proven track record of managing long-haul or metro dark-fiber routes from design to acceptance.

• Strong knowledge of the vendor landscape.

• Expertise in GIS/KMZ tools for route design.

• Adequate understanding of optical transport.

• Capability to act as the sole accountable owner for physical delivery across multiple concurrent builds.
