Staff Engineer/Senior Developer – Elixir, Ruby, Flutter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide technical direction for various ongoing custom software initiatives.

• Take ownership of planning and executing technical delivery while enhancing team efficiency.

• Maintain the Product Requirements Document, backlog, technical strategy, and sprint planning in collaboration with the Project Manager.

• Contribute directly to the codebase, engage in pair programming, lead code reviews, and leverage AI tools to expedite delivery while ensuring quality.

• Mentor teams comprised of 2 to 6 developers, designers, and QA analysts.

• Co-manage delivery projects alongside the Project Manager to ensure they are completed on budget and within the timeline.

• Direct teams through SmartLogic's product development methodologies and establish weekly objectives.

• Offer hands-on leadership for CI/CD pipelines, deployment tactics, AI innovations, environment configuration, and production operations.

• Communicate project updates, challenges, and resource requirements with company leadership and project teams.

• Assist in technical exploration, solution architecture, and rough-order-of-magnitude estimates for sales and consulting engagements.

• Design, assess, and support scalable and secure cloud and server architectures, primarily on AWS and Azure platforms.

• Serve as the technical authority on assigned projects, which includes QA and pull request evaluations.

• Contribute to pre-sales activities through solution development, scope refinement, and estimation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience with contemporary software development methodologies and technologies, crafting custom software for diverse clients.

• More than 7 years of experience with Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and Phoenix frameworks.

• At least 2 years of experience with Flutter and/or React Native.

• Over 5 years of experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, deployment, and related tools.

• Practical, hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools in a live production environment.

• Capability to validate AI-generated code against standard testing and review criteria.

• Ability to assess AI tools and establish repeatable workflows for the team.

• Sound judgment in identifying when AI assistance may introduce security, privacy, or quality concerns.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in consultancy roles, not exclusively in product-based companies.

• Experience in engaging in technical discovery, solution design, and estimating for client-facing and sales prospect projects.

• Organized, thoughtful, and deliberate approach to process management.

• Proficiency in setting and managing expectations among team members and management.

• Availability during SmartLogic's core working hours of 10:00 AM–3:30 PM ET on weekdays.
