Staff Engineer – Virtual Assembly Line

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical direction within the Virtual Assembly Line's growth and operations engineering sector.

• Ensure that the architecture aligns with the product vision and maintain consistent execution of technical decisions.

• Set high technical standards and engage personally with the most challenging engineering issues.

• Convert business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Design systems and APIs that treat AI agents as primary users, utilizing machine-readable contracts.

• Propel the team's transition to agentic engineering while guaranteeing safe automation and human accountability.

• Mentor and motivate engineers within the Virtual Assembly Line team.

• Foster a high-performing engineering culture.

• Incorporate security and reliability as essential customer values.

• Report directly to the CTO.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of practical software development experience using multiple general-purpose programming languages.

• Demonstrated experience in architecting scalable and secure systems.

• Extensive background in designing and implementing APIs for system integration and automated AI-agent consumers.

• Agile and results-driven mindset with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.

• Capability to communicate with stakeholders in business terminology and comprehend technical implications.

• Experience in driving technical alignment and executing critical technical decisions in fast-paced settings.

• Proven track record of leading a team through significant workflow or tooling transitions, including the safe application of automation and AI agents.

• Ability to manage features from initial problem identification to the delivery and maintenance of the product.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Proficiency in German is a plus.

• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Nest.js, Next.js, VueJS, Ruby on Rails, or Flutter.

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, GKE/Kubernetes, Cloud Run, Terraform/IaC, Vercel, or Datadog.

• Experience with PostgreSQL, BigQuery, SQLMesh, Looker, Linear, Notion, Figma, or Miro.
