Staff Engineer, Tech Lead – ML Acceleration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build, lead, and oversee a high-performing team of machine learning and infrastructure engineers dedicated to acceleration.

• Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for career advancement.

• Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

• Establish team goals, priorities, and a roadmap that aligns with company objectives.

• Articulate the technical vision and strategy for ML acceleration throughout the organization.

• Identify and assess technologies and methodologies aimed at enhancing ML training, including optimizing data pipelines, large-scale distributed training, data loader enhancement, hardware acceleration, and model refinement.

• Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient solutions for ML acceleration.

• Work in conjunction with ML research, ML Training Platform, and product teams to grasp their needs and integrate effective solutions.

• Convey complex technical concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Serve as a technical expert and champion for ML acceleration initiatives.

• Measure and report on the impact of acceleration efforts.

• Pursue opportunities for further optimization and innovation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 5 years concentrating on Machine Learning systems and optimizing model performance.

• 3 years of experience in a technical lead or managerial capacity.

• A proven history of building and guiding high-performing teams.

• Extensive experience with large-scale ML model training and deployment, preferably in production settings.

• Strong comprehension of distributed systems and cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• In-depth expertise with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.

• Proficiency in performance profiling and optimization techniques for Deep Neural Networks.

• Strong programming skills in Python; experience with C++ is advantageous.

• Familiarity with MLOps principles and practices.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent.

• Demonstrated capability to drive complex technical projects from inception to completion.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-driven mindset.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
