Staff Engineer, Process

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Oversee both conceptual and detailed engineering design along with cost estimation for intricate capital projects.

• Create manufacturing alternatives and processing solutions.

• Produce and refine Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

• Specify, select, and assess equipment and equipment suppliers.

• Develop construction scopes and bid packages for capital initiatives.

• Coordinate and supervise the installation, checkout, and commissioning of equipment and systems.

• Offer process support, troubleshooting, and optimization during the startup phase.

• Train manufacturing personnel, encompassing operators, supervisors, quality assurance, and maintenance staff.

• Transition deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance.

• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for capital projects focused on processes.

• Lead multifunctional teams and make pivotal decisions under pressure.

• Mentor colleagues on food industry processes, construction practices, standards, and regulations.

• Identify opportunities for improvement through data assessment, loss analysis, and experimentation.

• Introduce technologies or methodologies to enhance system performance and standardize enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Food Processing, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical, or related fields.

• Experience in process engineering, process design, and project management, including process troubleshooting and optimization.

• Advanced knowledge and application of standard operations and equipment in Salty Snacks processing, sanitary design, construction practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Food Safety.

• Understanding of powder and liquid storage, weighing and delivery systems, blending systems, depositing mechanisms, baking and frying technologies, and seasoning technologies.

• Comprehensive knowledge of process piping systems, food manufacturing equipment, process automation, and instrumentation.

• Relevant experience with Hershey Salty Snacks manufacturing processes, construction practices, standards, and regulations.

• Ability to prioritize solutions and create schedules aligned with business objectives.

• Outstanding problem-solving and optimization capabilities.

• Proven ability to execute projects in a timely manner.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food, Agricultural, or a closely related engineering discipline.

• Recognized leadership and decision-making skills.

• Excellent interpersonal abilities along with advanced written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
