• Design, take ownership of, and contribute to the cross-division data architecture, creating patterns and standards that are scalable across both Chartbeat and Tubular platforms.
• Lead the technical strategy for integrating data products across divisions, facilitating new cross-brand features and insights.
• Drive the roadmap for AI and backend infrastructure — from data pipelines that support models to deployment patterns for LLM-powered features.
• Identify and address skill gaps within the data engineering team, actively mentoring engineers and enhancing the overall technical proficiency.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and ML teams to convert business needs into scalable architectural solutions.
• Establish and refine best practices for data modeling, pipeline design, and system observability throughout the organization.
• Assess and prototype emerging AI and generative AI technologies for their application to real-world product challenges.
• Engage in engineering planning and contribute to roadmap prioritization from a cross-division viewpoint.
• Participate in the engineering on-call rotation to oversee and maintain the health of our production systems.
• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a closely related field.
• Proven expertise in designing large-scale data systems within complex, multi-product or multi-division settings.
• Strong proficiency in cloud data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or equivalent.
• Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines at scale, both streaming and batch, utilizing tools like Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in integrating AI and ML capabilities into data systems, including LLMs or foundation models in production settings.
• Strong skills in Python and Data Architecture.
• Excellent communication abilities — capable of conveying complex architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A history of enhancing engineering teams through mentorship, documentation, and technical leadership.
• Experience with Kubernetes or containerized infrastructure is a bonus.
