This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Develop and sustain production data pipelines that transfer performance and product data into the lakehouse, complete with documented schemas, testing, and monitoring.
• Collaborate on platform code and Terraform-based infrastructure under the mentorship of senior engineers, utilizing established patterns and best practices.
• Work alongside product engineering and domain subject matter experts to establish schema conventions and seamlessly integrate new data sources.
• Take responsibility for the components you create, including participating in on-call rotations, responding within service level objectives, and contributing to runbooks and post-incident analyses.
• Proactively identify potential pipeline failures, implement graceful failure handling, and enhance the reliability of the components you manage.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related position focused on building production systems.
• Proven experience in writing and delivering production-quality Python code, including a history of code that has undergone review, testing, and deployment.
• Familiarity with SQL and contemporary data warehouse or lakehouse concepts (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Delta Lake, Iceberg).
• Experience with AWS and a desire to develop skills in infrastructure-as-code methodologies using Terraform.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment regarding when to seek assistance versus persist independently.
• Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
• Even Better If: You have experience with Spark, Databricks, Trino, dbt, or Airflow in a production environment.
• Familiarity with lakehouse architectures (Delta, Iceberg, Hudi) or modern data observability tools.
• Experience using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) for specification-driven development, coding, testing, or troubleshooting.
• Background in working with sports performance data or an understanding of the intricacies of modeling athletic datasets.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science.
