Staff Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of segments of the core backend infrastructure, which is a sophisticated real-time distributed system developed in Python and Rust.

• Manage extensive, intricate initiatives from start to finish, including projects with unclear or evolving specifications, with minimal supervision.

• Decrease the frequency of incidents.

• Address stability challenges and resolve highly complex production problems.

• Handle technical duties associated with the SOC 2 process, including overseeing the individual responsible for daily operations.

• Continuously enhance development speed while upholding exceptionally high reliability standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previously held the position of Staff or Principal Engineer at a startup.

• Over 10 years of experience in Python programming.

• Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and steering large, ambiguously defined projects from inception through to completion.

• Proficient in Python Asyncio.

• Strong software design capabilities.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• In-depth knowledge of Networking Protocols and Operating Systems.

• Extensive expertise in Python Profiling.

• Experience in delivering and troubleshooting production-grade cloud-based distributed systems.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Helm.

• Experience with various observability tools.

• Strong skills in prompting LLMs, while also being capable of working independently.

• Experience with gRPC and its debugging.

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Development or equivalent industry experience.

• Bonus: prior experience managing technical aspects related to SOC 2 compliance.

• Bonus: familiarity with WebRTC, STUN/TURN, SIP, RTP, HLS, or RTMP.

• Bonus: experience with a strongly typed programming language such as Rust, C++, Go, Swift, or Java.

• Bonus: experience in building and troubleshooting real-time low-level systems.

• Bonus: background in audio programming.

• Bonus: contributor or maintainer of an open-source package.
