Staff Embedded Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, modular, and real-time embedded software architectures for the autonomous vehicle platform.

• Take charge of the design, development, and validation of safety-critical embedded platform software.

• Create firmware that interfaces directly with sensors, compute modules, and the base vehicle.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.

• Offer technical leadership and conduct thorough code reviews.

• Implement safety guidelines and establish robust fault handling mechanisms.

• Coordinate tasks among team members to ensure timely delivery.

• Assist in vehicle testing and field deployments.

• Identify and resolve embedded software issues in real-world scenarios.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C++ for the development of embedded systems in safety-critical environments.

• Strong comprehension of RTOS concepts and programming, including FreeRTOS or SafeRTOS.

• Familiarity with safety-critical standards such as ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 61508, IEC 62304, or similar.

• Proven technical leadership experience within a small team.

• Experience in hardware abstraction layer (HAL) and board support package (BSP) development.

• Knowledge of multithreaded and real-time software design.

• Understanding of CAN and Ethernet communication protocols, preferably in an automotive context.

• Successfully taken at least one product through production, including ongoing maintenance with paying customers.

• U.S. residency, person status, and/or citizenship status may require verification due to national security requirements.

• May need to meet U.S. export control requirements or obtain a U.S. government export license.
