Staff DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and manage AWS infrastructure by utilizing industry best practices (e.g., IaC, security, cost efficiency, and monitoring).

• Establish and execute infrastructure standards, policies, and governance (e.g., IAM, group permissions, and access control).

• Create, operate, and enhance CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and various tools to facilitate rapid and secure deployment of our applications and services.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ascertain infrastructure requirements and assist in formulating deployment strategies for both frontend and backend applications.

• Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability proactively. Implement observability tools and incident response procedures.

• Automate the provisioning, scaling, and recovery of infrastructure using tools such as Terraform.

• Identify and address infrastructure bottlenecks (e.g., database scaling and system performance limitations).

• Drive initiatives concerning infrastructure security and compliance, covering access control, vulnerability management, secrets management, encryption, and audit preparedness.

• Ensure systems comply with applicable security and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR), while supporting both internal and external audits.

• Guide engineers on DevOps best practices, promote clean and scalable infrastructure design, and contribute to a robust engineering culture.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability, or Infrastructure Engineering position, preferably in a startup or product-oriented setting.

• Extensive knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, SQS, SNS, etc.) and cloud-native architecture.

• Strong background in CI/CD tools and methodologies, particularly GitHub Actions.

• Proficient with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Bash).

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes).

• Comprehensive understanding of networking, security best practices, and system performance monitoring.

• Experience in implementing and managing security controls and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2), including practical experience with identity management, encryption, and audit logging.

• Background in supporting modern web stacks, notably applications developed with React, Next.js, and Python-based services.
