Staff Design System Engineer – UI Foundation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain essential front-end cross-functional areas of Bitwarden’s codebase.

• Create and uphold a unified design system and UI component library for web, desktop, and browser extension applications.

• Assist teams in recognizing and implementing opportunities for componentization and reusability.

• Supply tools and design documentation to facilitate team success.

• Establish yourself as an expert and authority on the platform's front-end codebase and design system component library.

• Lead the development of fully accessible components and enhance components for new functionalities.

• Clearly document component usage for end-users.

• Collaborate with designers to execute the design system effectively.

• Guide teams on componentization, reusability, and front-end best practices.

• Engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to others.

• Contribute bug fixes reported by the user community.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven expertise in building Angular web applications.

• Demonstrated experience in creating reusable libraries with comprehensive APIs from a unified design system perspective.

• Proven ability to work with designers and implement specifications from Figma or similar design tools.

• Solid experience with WCAG and creating accessible user experiences.

• Proficiency in using Tailwind CSS for component styling.

• Experience in writing documentation aimed at developers.

• Familiarity with Storybook or other component modeling tools.

• A collaborative and flexible mindset.

• Openness, authenticity, and strong communication skills.

• Passion for open source initiatives and enhancing internet security.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities.

• Must reside in the United States.
