Staff Database Reliability Engineer – Oracle, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Work remotely as a Staff Database Reliability Engineer.

• Oversee databases in a cloud setting utilizing tools such as Terraform and AWS.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee high availability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience in DBA or Platform Engineering.

• More than 5 years of expertise in Oracle.

• Strong experience across multiple cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP – at least two).

• In-depth knowledge of HA/DR and performance tuning.

• An automation-first approach (Terraform, scripting, CI/CD).

• Preferred experience in SaaS/DBaaS environments.

• DBA Skills: Primary Database: Oracle; Secondary Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server.

• Database Backup & Recovery: Familiarity with tools and strategies for database backups and disaster recovery.

• Performance Tuning: Expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting database performance.

• Database Security: Skills in user management, roles, access control, and auditing.

• Knowledge in Cloud Infrastructure (DBaaS): Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS (RDS, Aurora), Azure (Cosmos DB, SQL Database), GCP (Cloud SQL, Firestore).

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes & Containers: Experience in running databases in containers (such as Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with Observability Tools: Proficient in ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

• Database Migration: Skills in migrating databases across various platforms or cloud environments.

• Database Scaling: Understanding of vertical and horizontal scaling techniques in cloud settings.

• Familiarity with SRE Principles: Experience in incident management, monitoring and alerting, SLOs/SLAs, and disaster recovery planning.

• Scripting and Automation: Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Shell scripting, Bash, and PowerShell.

• Automation Tools: Experience with Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.

• Basic Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, Firewall, and Load Balancers.

• Operating System Skills: Expertise in Linux OS (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
