Staff Database Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs) for migration implementation.

• Design and oversee database management policies, procedures, and standards.

• Provide design guidelines and support for projects and technical roadmaps.

• Mentor and train Level 1 and Level 2 Database Administrators (DBAs).

• Collaborate with clients to optimize project deliverables.

• Anticipate database growth and plan for hardware and storage needs.

• Strategize and implement high availability and disaster recovery plans.

• Carry out database software upgrades, patches, and service packs.

• Investigate and resolve intricate database-related challenges.

• Create automation tools to simplify tasks.

• Establish monitoring and alerting systems.

• Produce performance reports and conduct analysis.

• Maintain current documentation of database configurations.

• Address incidents, changes, and service requests within client SLAs.

• Generate comprehensive root cause analysis (RCA) reports for problem management.

• Assess and manage third-party tools for database management.

• Engage in sales implementations and vendor discussions.

• Deliver 24x7 production support for database operations.

• Manage large, complex database projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL for administration and migration tasks.

• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL/Platform as a Service (PAAS) databases, scripting, and automation.

• Familiarity with AWS/Azure Cloud environments.

• Skilled in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL for architecture, installation, configuration, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.

• Proven experience in planning and executing database migrations and upgrades.

• Cloud-capable for project-based migrations, automation, and administration.

• Awareness of industry best practices in database administration.

• Strong ability to communicate technical information effectively.

• Experience with automation tools like Python, AWS CLI, PowerShell, and Shell scripting.

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Terraform, and GitHub.

• Understanding of deploying and managing relational database management systems (RDBMS) on cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Azure Monitor, and AWS CloudWatch.

• Experience with ITIL-based ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
