Staff Database Platform Reliability Engineer, MS SQL, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Ensure the reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of our multi-cloud DBaaS platform across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Lead the development of operational standards, automation frameworks, and reliability engineering practices within distributed cloud environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience in DBA / Platform Engineering.

• Extensive experience in multi-cloud environments (at least two: Azure / AWS / GCP).

• Proficient in high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and performance tuning.

• Strong automation mindset with skills in Terraform, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in SaaS / DBaaS environments is advantageous.

• Database Administration (DBA) skills.

• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (Primary).

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and MySQL (Secondary).

• Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.

• Skills in performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting).

• Understanding of database security (roles, access control, auditing).

• Ability to perform log analysis: reading and analyzing database and system logs.

• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA): performing detailed analysis following major incidents.

• Analyze query performance: evaluating slow queries, deadlocks, and resource contention.

• Experience with AWS (RDS, Aurora), Azure (SQL Database, Cosmos DB), and GCP (Cloud SQL, Firestore).

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes).

• Experience in containerized database environments (Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with observability tools (ELK stack – Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

• Experience in database migration across cloud platforms.

• Expertise in database scaling strategies (vertical & horizontal scaling).
