Staff Data Scientist, Consumer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the long-term product strategy by pinpointing opportunities to attract new users, boost engagement, and enhance retention.

• Shape strategic roadmaps using data-driven insights into user behaviors and requirements.

• Develop metrics that assess the health of the business and the effectiveness of our products, including any ETL development necessary for thorough and consistent analysis.

• Lead experimentation from design through execution and analysis to maximize learning and inform future investment choices.

• Create self-service tools for product and engineering partners to address common inquiries and improve data literacy within the organization.

• Collaborate across functions with product, engineering, and design teams to ensure insights are integrated into the product.

• Expand your impact within the data organization by mentoring junior data scientists, refining processes, and providing insights on critical challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.

• For M.S. holders: over 10 years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.

• For Ph.D. holders: at least 6 years of industry experience in applied science or data science positions.

• In-depth knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

• Familiarity with statistical analysis and the preferred programming languages of the team (R / Python).

• Proven ability to influence and direct product strategy using data.

• Demonstrated capability to tackle ambiguous problems in a structured, hypothesis-driven, and data-supported manner.

• Understanding of causal inference techniques and causal models.

• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders.

• Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and passionate about problem-solving.

• Proven ability to mentor other data scientists and disseminate best practices to enhance the data science function at Reddit.

• Ability to thrive in innovative and dynamic environments, with a proactive approach.

• Capable of discussing complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.
