Staff Data Engineer – Technology Strategy and Ops, Gaming Industry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Proactively design, construct, and enhance scalable ETL pipelines for both structured and semi-structured data that support Insights and Finance use cases, analyzing technology usage and costs (e.g. AWS CUR).

• Develop and implement intricate data models utilizing industry best practices to provide a comprehensive view of technology usage and costs, while ensuring precision, scalability, and long-term usability.

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to comprehend their requirements and devise solutions that drive their desired outcomes.

• Design and implement robust, maintainable, and high-performance data solutions.

• Automate workflows to minimize manual intervention and improve data processing efficiency, including automation for financial processes.

• Guide junior data engineers through code reviews and technical mentorship, establishing best practices and encouraging technical development.

• Enhance query performance and address pipeline bottlenecks to facilitate improved data accessibility.

• Ensure adherence to data quality and governance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

• Over 6 years of experience in data engineering or a similar field.

• Proficient hands-on coding skills, particularly in Python, SQL, and tools such as Airflow, Databricks, and dbt.

• Expertise in crafting efficient and scalable data models with large datasets across multiple teams in collaboration with insights or data stakeholders.

• Proven ability to function as a Lead Individual Contributor and work effectively across various functions.

• Established experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers.

• NICE TO HAVE: Experience in processing cloud billing data (e.g. AWS CUR, Azure Cost Management) or complex financial datasets.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
