Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted advisor collaborating with our clients, ranging from data owners and analytics users to C-level executives.

• Operate independently within a small team to address intricate data engineering challenges across diverse industries.

• Design and create the analytical infrastructure, including cloud data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration tasks.

• Utilize modern tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Fivetran, and dbt while enhancing your expertise through certifications.

• Write code using SQL, Python, and Spark, applying software engineering best practices like Git and CI/CD.

• Assist in the deployment of data science and machine learning projects into a production environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.

• Over 3 years of experience with relational databases and query languages.

• More than 3 years of experience building data pipelines in production, with proficiency in working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

• At least 3 years of experience in data modeling (e.g., star schema, entity-relationship).

• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and robust code in Python, Scala, Java, or similar programming languages for over 3 years.

• Capability to independently manage an individual workstream.

• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices.

• Preferred experience in DevOps.

• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Microsoft Synapse) is preferred.

• Familiarity with cloud ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, dbt, Matillion, Informatica, Talend, etc.) is preferred.

• Background in working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.

• Experience with Apache Spark is preferred.

• Experience in preparing data for analytics and adhering to a data science workflow to achieve business outcomes is preferred.

• Consulting experience is strongly preferred.

• Willingness to travel is necessary.
