Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL database systems to support manufacturing operations.

• Optimize and monitor MS SQL Server databases, ETL/ELT integrations, CDC, replication, GCP BigQuery DBT Data Models, and GCP Iceberg archival.

• Drive database best practices and support data modernization initiatives by embracing advanced technologies including AI and MCP.

• Develop and maintain monitoring tools and processes to proactively identify and resolve database-related issues.

• Implement and maintain ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and replication solutions to deliver near real-time data capabilities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design systems, and implement database solutions.

• Utilize Microsoft SQL Server stack and GCP stack, including SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI, PolyBase data virtualization, BigQuery, Datastream, Cloud Storage, BigLake tables for Apache Iceberg, Cloud SQL, and DBT.

• Partner with the IT security team to maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Hardware Security Modules (HSM) used for key management.

• Document and train DBA teams on solutions for common issues encountered and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and proficient in SQL Server 2012 and later.

• Some DBA experience or knowledge of DBA best practices and an understanding of replication.

• Preferably experienced with BigQuery, Iceberg, DBT, and open table formats or similar technologies, and knowledgeable in VMware and SQL Server 2022.

• Experience with Siemens Camstar is a plus.

• Working knowledge of data management and tools such as Jira, Jama, and Confluence.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
