This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Design, construct, and manage impactful data pipelines and platform components encompassing ingestion, storage, transformation, and consumption, utilizing Snowflake as the primary platform.
• Develop and enhance the medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Semantic layers.
• Deliver semantic models for essential business entities, metrics, and KPIs within Snowflake and make them accessible to BI tools.
• Oversee engineering execution involving Fivetran ingestion, Coalesce, and associated transformation tools, along with Tableau BI delivery.
• Address Snowflake performance, scalability, and cost challenges through query optimization, clustering, warehouse sizing, and storage management.
• Establish AI-ready platform capabilities that support LLM, RAG, and AI agent use cases.
• Implement and uphold data governance practices, including naming conventions, data contracts, PII handling, access controls, lineage, and documentation.
• Develop data observability practices that encompass freshness monitoring, anomaly detection, pipeline reliability, SLA tracking, and incident response.
• Collaborate with security and stakeholders to fulfill compliance, risk, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation, data flow diagrams, decision records, and data dictionaries.
• Facilitate design reviews, clarify technical uncertainties, and establish engineering standards.
• Assess tools and platforms, leading decisions on whether to build or buy solutions.
• Collaborate with the VP of Data & Analytics to execute the roadmap, prioritize tasks, and manage platform partnerships.
• Guide Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers through pairing, code reviews, and hands-on assistance.
• Communicate technical strategies to engineering leaders, business stakeholders, and executive partners.
• Work cross-functionally to transform data requirements into scalable pipelines and data products.
• Define data contracts and sustainable product data integration patterns in partnership with engineering.
• Collaborate with BI and analytics consumers to facilitate self-service and ensure consistency.
• Work alongside Data Scientists and AI/ML Engineers to provide contextualized, AI-ready data.
• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering, with hands-on production data infrastructure experience at Staff or Principal level.
• Expert-level proficiency in Snowflake, covering schema design, performance tuning, virtual warehouse management, RBAC, data sharing, and cost governance.
• Extensive hands-on experience with contemporary data transformation practices and production experience with Coalesce or equivalent dbt.
• Strong foundation in data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling, normalization, entity-relationship design, and semantic layer concepts.
• Proven experience in building and managing medallion or layered architecture at scale across various business domains.
• Practical experience with data governance, covering access controls, PII classification, lineage, documentation, and data contracts.
• Experience in establishing or managing data observability practices, including freshness monitoring, anomaly detection, SLA definitions, and incident response.
• Expert-level SQL skills for analytical workloads, including complex query reviews and optimization.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including technical designs, decision records, and presentations for non-technical leadership.
• Understanding of enterprise AI application patterns, including RAG pipelines, vector search, and agent frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, semantic context, retrieval patterns, and governed access to reliable enterprise data.
• Preferred qualifications: experience with inbound and outbound connectors; Tableau BI consumption; SaaS business experience; Snowflake Cortex or similar AI features; unstructured data and embedding-based retrieval; tool evaluations or vendor selection.
