This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• We assist client teams in implementing DevOps practices to develop environments that are more observable, sustainable, and predictable by integrating operational capabilities into development teams.
• Providing primary DevOps solutions to clients in areas such as Cloud Architecture and Deployment across at least one major cloud provider.
• Possessing hands-on experience in managing production services on Kubernetes and other managed container platforms, including rollout strategies, autoscaling, and observability.
• Capable of evaluating the trade-offs between container orchestration options (k8s vs. ECS) and serverless container platforms when offering guidance to clients.
• Familiar with event-driven serverless technologies (Lambda, Cloud Functions) and able to discern when these are appropriate compared to long-running containers.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• Experienced in Configuration Management practices.
• Skilled in CI/CD Pipelines.
• Knowledgeable in Monitoring and Observability techniques.
• Committed to creating high-quality infrastructure that meets user and business needs.
• Applying security best practices within deployment pipelines and cloud environments.
• Assisting clients in achieving Service Level Agreements and Service Level Objectives by providing observable infrastructure.
• Implementing architectures for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Identifying technology, communication, and process challenges and suggesting enhancements.
• Sharing best practices for cloud architecture that are resilient, highly available, and cost-effective for the client’s business.
• Mentoring client developers and operations teams by sharing expertise and knowledge, ensuring their success even after our involvement ends.
• Collaborating with fellow Test Double agents on infrastructure best practices.
• Learning new frameworks, languages, technologies, and techniques to adapt to evolving client needs.
• Maintaining open and honest communication with all stakeholders, even when the information may not be well-received.
• Over 8 years of experience in software development.
• More than 3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud computing, or operations.
• At least 3 years of consulting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• In-depth understanding of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD Pipelines including Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Proven ability to guide AI in delivery by defining problems, implementing quality checks, and achieving consistent results, with examples of enhancing team workflows.
• Familiar with containerized deployment strategies, including Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service, and Docker.
• Proficient in observability and monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Grafana, and DataDog.
• Possessing low ego, high emotional intelligence (EQ), and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Experience in leading teams to decompose work and maintain a valuable backlog for the business.
• Ability to balance competing priorities and influence teams towards high-quality software development practices.
• Strong communication skills across various levels within an organization.
• Proficient in designing, architecting, and refactoring moderately complex systems worked on by teams of 10 or more.
• Skilled at resolving conflicts and issues within the delivery team.
• Experience in mentoring and leading the technical direction of software engineers.
• Expertise in designing and delivering systems to production using one or more of the following programming languages: Ruby, Go, Python, JavaScript/Typescript.
• Remote First - Work from anywhere, with travel required for critical client and company functions.
