Staff Backend Engineer, .NET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Designing and developing scalable, dependable, and maintainable backend systems within a contemporary technology landscape.

• Leading architectural decisions and guiding design discussions with a clear emphasis on long-term effects and cross-team synergy.

• Mentoring engineers while promoting technical excellence through teamwork.

• Actively seeking opportunities for technical innovation, system advancement, and performance enhancements, particularly in areas where AI and automation can contribute.

• Creating and sustaining internal tools and infrastructure (AWS, Terraform) to enable teams to deliver swiftly and reliably.

• Maintaining high platform availability by applying best practices for observability, logging, and operational excellence.

• Engaging in on-call rotations and serving as a dependable problem solver during incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in backend development, including several years in a staff-level or technical leadership position.

• In-depth knowledge of C# (.NET 8+) and substantial hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (or solid SQL skills).

• Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling distributed systems within cloud-native environments (preferably AWS).

• Proficient in working with containerized services and infrastructure-as-code (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, Terraform).

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, ChatGPT, Amazon CodeWhisperer) to enhance productivity, resolve complex issues, or auto-generate boilerplate code and documentation.

• A growth-oriented mindset with a continuous curiosity about how AI and automation can expedite development, enhance quality, and minimize repetitive tasks.

• A strong proponent of AI enablement throughout engineering, thinking beyond just code.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, capable of clearly expressing your ideas, particularly when introducing new technologies like AI to cross-functional teams.

• A practical approach to problem-solving, knowing when to build custom solutions versus utilizing existing AI tools.

• Experience with event-driven systems and streaming technologies (experience with Kafka is a bonus).

• Fluent in English.
