Staff Backend Engineer – Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

• We are seeking talented backend engineers who are passionate about creating dependable systems that manage fragmented yet high-value data.

• As a member of the Core Backend team, you will engage in developing the foundational systems at the heart of Kalepa, including designing services, data models, pipelines, and evaluation loops.

• Our objective extends beyond achieving cleaner data; we aim to establish an intelligence layer that facilitates improved, quicker, and more understandable decision-making.

• You will be part of a high-ownership team that manages some of Kalepa’s most critical infrastructure.

• Your contributions will enhance the completeness of our data, increase the transparency of our decisions, and elevate the value of our products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess 8+ years of software engineering experience.

• Demonstrate hustle and determination, showcasing excellence in your craft and a relentless pursuit of improvement.

• Take full responsibility for your tasks and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.

• Communicate proactively by identifying blockers, asking pertinent questions, and keeping stakeholders informed.

• Embrace experimentation: you are comfortable testing ideas, measuring outcomes, and rapidly iterating on unsolved challenges.

• Have a solid foundation in system design, debugging, and problem-solving.

• Proficient in Python (our primary stack), but we welcome strong candidates from other object-oriented backgrounds.

• Experienced with serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2), asynchronous workflows, and cloud environments.

• Comfortable working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.

• Bonus: experience with LLMs/generative AI and distributed systems.
