
Staff Backend Engineer – Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.
• Design a Greenfield System: Take the lead in the development of a greenfield project, owning the architecture and technical vision for the V1 Trust Accounting product.
• Develop Production-Grade Financial Infrastructure: Create and implement the essential backend services for a secure, scalable, and auditable trust accounting subsystem.
• Ensure Quality and Reliability: Set up quality gates, robust testing procedures, and CI/CD integration to guarantee that every feature is delivered with measurable confidence and accuracy.
• Advocate for Engineering Best Practices: Promote best practices in system design, observability, and security throughout the organization.
• Collaborate and Influence: Engage closely with product, design, finance, and legal teams to ensure a seamless product delivery.
• Mentor and Uplift Engineers: Enhance the technical standards across the team and beyond through code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands-on collaboration.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a Staff Engineer or equivalent role.
• Deep Backend Expertise: Strong proficiency in a backend programming language such as Go for developing production-grade services.
• Production Experience: You have built, launched, and managed essential backend systems that cater to real users at scale.
• Strong Architectural Insights: You have the ability to design systems that are initially simple and can evolve seamlessly over time.
• Familiarity with Accounting or Ledger Products: Knowledge of financial systems, accounting principles, or ledger products is a considerable advantage.
• Cross-Team Influence: You lead with clarity and credibility instead of relying on authority.
• Infrastructure Proficiency: Comfortable working with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and managing services in production environments.
