Staff Backend AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take ownership of services for extensive transactional platforms.

• Oversee the comprehensive design of agentic AI workflows utilizing orchestration frameworks.

• Execute these workflows through tool-calling methodologies and multi-agent coordination on AWS.

• Create production-quality services in Python and Go.

• Design and manage AWS-native infrastructure.

• Set engineering standards including code review processes, test coverage expectations, CI/CD pipelines, and observability instrumentation.

• Facilitate and lead technical design reviews for new services.

• Address performance issues in distributed systems.

• Direct proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives for emerging technologies.

• Mentor and enhance the skills of senior and mid-level engineers.

• Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-mortem evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a staff-level, principal, or similar technical leadership position.

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in building and managing production services on AWS.

• Over 2 years of professional experience in Python development with a strong grasp of async patterns.

• More than 2 years of experience with Go in production microservices.

• Proven experience in architecting and managing large-scale transactional systems.

• Practical experience in developing agentic AI systems.

• Expertise in relational and non-relational databases, including experience with query optimization and schema design at scale.

• Proficient in containerization and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Familiarity with observability tools.

• Experience in managing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Harness.

• Background in integrating async messaging systems and designing event-driven architectures.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and fostering improvements in engineering culture, quality, and efficiency across the organization.
