Staff Back-end Software Engineer – Recommendation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical architecture and system design for the expansive Recommendation team, ensuring minimal latency, high availability, and resilience.

• Act as the technical authority within the team, advocating for best practices and elevating the standards of software engineering excellence.

• Develop critical microservices in Kotlin, implementing best practices for code design, concurrency, and testing.

• Lead technical discussions and align architectural strategies with product managers, data scientists, and engineers.

• Monitor and enhance the performance of high-throughput distributed systems, proactively identifying bottlenecks before they affect the buyer experience.

• Enhance buyers' browsing and search journey by providing intelligent, contextual ad suggestions in real-time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Staff Engineer in building and evolving large-scale microservices architectures and distributed systems.

• Strong practical experience with Kotlin and/or modern Java.

• Understanding of Machine Learning concepts, including training, inference, feature stores, and prediction latency.

• Experience with AWS, including CI/CD best practices, observability, and fostering a DevOps culture.

• Excellent communication and technical mentorship abilities, with the capacity to simplify technical complexities and guide the team’s outputs.

• Advantageous: experience in Search, Recommendation, Personalization, or E-commerce teams.
