• Provide advice, counsel, and assistance to PRP governmental partners (cities, counties, elected officials) on matters related to civil rights.
• Perform legal research on civil rights and offer guidance and analysis for various jurisdictions.
• Create compelling legal documents, including amicus briefs and other legal writings, memoranda, legal analyses, and review, edit, and give feedback on the work of others.
• Enhance relationships across jurisdictions by recognizing opportunities for CRH advocacy, collaboration, and strategic initiatives, both independently and as part of a team.
• Engage in coalition efforts with a variety of partners, including government officials, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
• Organize and lead virtual meetings for government officials and advocates, which includes designing agendas, selecting speakers, preparing materials, and addressing timely legal and advocacy topics for discussion.
• Utilize judgment to assess and prioritize information for leadership, effectively managing upwards.
• Assist PRP’s communications regarding CRH, which may involve public speaking and drafting press statements, “explainers,” and op-eds as necessary.
• Contribute to a creative, inclusive, and supportive community of advocates.
• Must be licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as an attorney is required.
• Relevant experience may encompass litigation, including brief writing or other forms of movement lawyering.
• Experience in nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or law firms focusing on civil rights, civil litigation, or related areas is essential.
• Familiarity with reproductive rights, LGBTQI+ rights, disability rights, or similar civil rights fields is advantageous.
• Proven background in coordinating and facilitating in-person or virtual events, such as meetings, stakeholder briefings, trainings, or cross-team discussions.
• Prior experience with remote work in large teams supporting fast-paced and mission-driven litigation is preferred.
