This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and upkeep of Sony’s AI governance framework along with associated risk management processes.
• Perform legal and regulatory evaluations concerning AI, including areas such as intellectual property, consumer protection, product liability, privacy, and AI ethics.
• Analyze AI use cases and business initiatives to uncover governance and ethical risks.
• Draft initial versions of memos, policies, guidance documents, governance artifacts, training materials, presentations, and communications for stakeholders.
• Track and assess global legal and regulatory trends that impact AI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform legal and internal policy requirements into actionable business guidance.
• Provide support for governance forums, workshops, executive briefings, AI literacy initiatives, and other strategic projects.
• Manage governance documentation, templates, playbooks, and resources for knowledge management.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• A minimum of 3 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, or a combination of these.
• Experience in advising on legal matters related to technology.
• Proficient legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to balance legal risks with business objectives.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting technology, software, digital products, consumer-facing services, or initiatives in emerging technologies.
• Preferred: In-depth knowledge of technology-related legal risks and regulatory frameworks, along with familiarity with AI-related issues.
• Preferred: Experience in conducting risk assessments and advising business stakeholders on unique legal challenges.
• Preferred: Proven ability to simplify complex legal concepts into practical, business-focused guidance.
• Preferred: Ability to juggle multiple matters at once and coordinate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across various businesses and jurisdictions.
• Preferred: An intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in emerging technologies and responsible innovation.
